If you are going to join a boxing gym or take lessons from a personal trainer, they will have boxing gloves and equipment you can use before deciding what is best for you.

G & S SPORTING GOODS - A small store in New York City with some top quality equipment at the right prices. Used the world over. My personal favorites are their heavy bag gloves. They also have the great hand wraps. Their focus mitts, headguards and foulproof cups are as good as they come. You should buy their headguard #CP. Great design and quality. Great price at $50.

Sparmate Timer
A timer is necessary for any boxing gym. This is very loud and if in small gym you need to muffle the speaker, We have one that has been running 14 hours a day for two years. (www.ringside.com)

If you know electrical stuff, you can mount to wall and hard wire it. Since you need to drill holes through the casing, it will void any warranties.

KING FITNESS - If you buy Ivanko dumb bells, consider a KING dumb bell rack. It is a piece of art and super strong. Could last your whole life. Plan at least 6 weeks delivery, as they custom make each one.

Slam Man - He looks pretty cool and I like the idea, but just guessing, it looks like a good heavyweight will tear him to pieces. Check the guarantee, don't know anybody who owned one.

BOB - Bob is the latex man you love to hate. It is fun to punch him, uppercuts and hooks are the best.
Note: A good heavy weight will knock him down. There is no damage, just delays. They should build a Bob with handles on his back, so the trainer could carry and move him around..
