STAFF REPORT

During a recent sanctioned U.S. Amateur Boxing event at Gladiator Boxing in Forked River , the Team Gladiator boxers fared well despite some tough competition from the tri-state area.

Before a standing-room-only crowd, 14-year-old Forked River boxer Anthony Sodano delighted the fans with a decision over Rob Striffler to kick things off.

Following Sodano's decision, Team Gladiator boxer Joey Bockin &emdash; a 10-year-old Silver Gloves champ last year and a Junior Olympic champ earlier this year &emdash; won a unanimous decision over Phildelphia's Aaron Walker, who trains at Bozzy's Gym.

After Frank Serritella scored a decision over Middletown 's Edward Trebotica, Forked River boxer Rob Smith, 15, evened a score from a week earlier when he defeated Dover Boxing Club's Jon Adams in a rematch of a Junior Olympic final.

Gladiator Boxing's next amateur event is scheduled for Saturday, July 14, beginning at 2 p.m. For more information about the event or Gladiator Boxing, please call (609) 971-3668.
