ROCKY DRILLS HARD
FOR COMEBACK TEST

Kansas Preparing Diligently
for Six-Round Bout With
Joe Trippe Friday

_ Rocky Kansas, one-time lightweight
champion of the world, is working
hard in Oriole gymnasium these after
noons in an attempt to be in good
physical condition for his comeback
test against Joe Trippe in Broadway
auditorium Friday night.
_ Kansas has been training for nearly
three months and had high hopes of
regaining a bit of the prestige, glory
and fortune that once was his.
_ If successful in his early test, Rocky
aspires to take on Benny Leonard,
his former arch rival, who also is
treading the comeback trail. A Kan-
sas-Leonard match in Buffalo, pro-
viding that both maintain a winning
gait, should be one of the best drawing
cards of the season.
_ The burly little Italian still retains
much of his popularity among the
Buffalo fistic colony and Kansas is
sure of having hundreds of well-
wishers at the ringside Friday night,
rooting for him to clear his first hurdle.
_ Friday's show includes 40 rounds of
boxing, with a half dozen six round-
ers and a four spot carded.
