_ NEW YORK, June 21. - (UP) -
With overcast skies bearing a threat
of rain, Max Schmeling and Jack
Sharkey appeared before the New
York state boxing commission Tues-
day for a final physical examina-
tion before the 15-round world's
heavyweight championship bout
Tuesday night.
_ Schmeling weighed 188 pounds.
The challenger weighed 205, giving
him a 17-pound advantage.
_ A crowd of about 200 persons
milled outside the state office build-
ing as the two fighters, accompanied
by their managers and trainers, ar-
rived. The sun broke through the
clouds just before the two heavy-
weights arrived, but disappeared
again.
_ The athletic commission's room
was crowded with newspaper men,
photographers and policemen as
Commissioner William A. Muldoon
led them to the scales.
_ Schmeling and Sharkey shook
hands and simultaneously said
"Hello." Then they stepped onto
the scales.
_ Schmeling tried to appear jovial
but the strain told some on him.
Sharkey appeared irritable.
_ Both fighters paused before the
newspaper men and photographers
to say they felt fine and were sure
of victory.
_ Sharkey will appear in the regu-
lation black tights when he enters
the ring in the new stadium at Long
Island City while Schmeling will
wear purple.

_ Station WREN will carry a blow
by blow account of the world's
heavyweight boxing championship
bout Tuesday night. The bout will be
on the air from 8 until 9 o'clock
with a staff of veteran boxing an-
nouncers giving a vivid description
as the bout progresses and high
lights after the 15-round struggle
ends.
