Advice and Tips: Hang a Mirror

IDEAS TO HANG MIRRORS
Most boxing gyms have mirrors on the walls.
That is almost a requirement...

The best way to hang a mirror is to call a professional. Buy the best tempered or unbreakable glass, ect... but if you are going to do it yourself or have a limited budget, below is some advice and ideas.

Glass mirrors should be glued on a solid surface, either directly to the wall or on a sheet of plywood. This will prevent the mirror from shattering or breaking in pieces if accidently punched. The mirror can still be cracked, but will save you from serious injuries.

GLUE MIRRORS ON PLYWOOD
Glue the mirrors on a sheet of plywood and bolt the plywood to the wall. If the mirrors are 4'x6' then glue on a sheet of plywood 4'x6'4". You will have two extra inches on top and bottom with which to attach the plywood to wall.

Also mirrors are expensive, if you ever plan on moving locations and want to take the mirrors, it is easy to remove a couple screws or bolts. There is limited damage to repair, just a couple screw holes that can be quickly filled with plaster and painted over. On the other hand, if you glued the mirrors directly to the wall be prepared for a nightmare.

The bottom of the mirrors should be at or close to floor level. That way you can see your feet when shadowboxing.
